On April 8, 2024, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Germany Imomudin Sattorov met with the Mayor of Reutlingen, Thomas Keck, as part of his working visit to the sister city of Dushanbe.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed a message from the Chairman of Dushanbe, Mr. Rustami Emomali to Mr. Thomas Keck.

There was a constructive exchange of views on strengthening further cooperation between the sister cities in the fields of the economy, science and culture, education, migration, tourism and the organisation of joint cultural and sport events in Dushanbe and Reutlingen.

During the meeting with Wolfgang Epp, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Reutlingen, main attention was paid to the development of cooperation between the private and public sectors, attraction of investments, organisation of economic conferences, establishment of direct contacts between entrepreneurs from Dushanbe and Reutlingen.

At the same time, at the meeting with the President of Reutlingen University, Prof. Dr. Hendrik Brumme, the issues of scientific research cooperation, restoration of inter-university ties, exchange of students and the possibility of studying Tajik citizens in this scientific institution were discussed.

On March 13, 2024, the Ambassador of Tajikistan in Germany, Imomudin Sattorov met with the State Minister for European and International Affairs, Eric Beisswenger, during his visit to the Federal State of Bavaria.

At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the state of Bavaria in various fields and agreed to utilise the existing mechanisms for effective joint actions.

The Ambassador also had a meeting with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of Bavaria, Martin Schoffel, where the need to strengthen relations in various areas of interest was emphasised.

At another meeting with Christoph Angerbauer, Head of the International Sector, Industry and Innovation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Munich and Upper Bavaria, member of the Board of Directors of this organization, the focus was on establishing cooperation between Tajik and Bavarian companies, as well as attracting investment to various sectors of the Tajikistan’s economy.

On July 25, Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a bilateral meeting with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, followed by a trilateral meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

 

The Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process was discussed at the meeting.

 

 

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov once again brought to the attention the position of Azerbaijan on the current situation in the region, illegal activities and threats against the steps taken by Azerbaijan to establish peace and security in the region, as well as military provocations, including obstacles to flights by Armenia.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that the allegations on the humanitarian situation in the region are completely unfounded, and is political manipulation.

 

 

 

It was noted that it is Azerbaijan’s sovereign right to take measures against misuse of the Lachin road for military purposes, as well as for the illegal transportation of Azerbaijan’s natural resources contrary to the obligations of Armenia according to the Trilateral Statement dated November 10, 2020. Furthermore, it was noted that the establishment of the Lachin border checkpoint by Azerbaijan was a necessary measure.

 

 

 

It was mentioned that the provocation committed by Armenia against the checkpoint on June 15 prevented the passage of Armenian residents despite the conditions created for a transparent, safe, and well-regulated passage of Armenian residents in both directions since the establishment of the border checkpoint. It was noted that at this time Azerbaijan provides passage through the checkpoint to Armenian residents for medical purposes.

 

 

 

It was noted that the Armenian side’s opposition to all proposals including the utilization of the “Aghdam-Khankendi”, as well as other alternative routes demonstrate both their insidious intentions, and confirms that the claims on the humanitarian situation is a political blackmail.

 

 

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the cessation of attempts to interfere with Azerbaijan’s reintegration of Armenians living in its sovereign territories, the unconditional confirmation of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity by Armenia in words and deeds, as well as the withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces, which are still fully present in the territory of Azerbaijan contrary to Armenia’s obligations, are the most necessary conditions for ensuring peace in the region.

On July 16, 2023, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Zarobiddin Kosimi, visited the Arab Academy of Sciences, Technologies and Maritime Transport, located in Cairo.

 

 

 

During the visit and familiarization with the activities of the Academy, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan met with the President of the Academy, Professor Ismail Abdel Ghafar, as well as its teachers, senior officials and experts.

 

 

 

At the meeting, issues of establishing cooperation in the field of education and scientific and technical research were discussed.

Presidents of Kazakhstan and Singapore held talks

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with President Halimah Yacob of Singapore, who are in Kazakhstan on a state visit.

The talks were preceded by an official welcoming ceremony at the Akorda. The Head of the Guard of Honour gave a welcoming report to the Presidents. The national anthems of the two states were played followed by joint photo session. After that the leaders proceeded to the meeting venue.

Presidents thoroughly discussed the current development and prospects of the Kazakh-Singaporean relations focusing on strengthening the political dialogue, deepening trade and economic cooperation, and expanding cultural and humanitarian ties.

 

Welcoming Halimah Yacob, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commended her strong leadership in navigating Singapore at such a challenging time.

“We feel proud that Kazakhstan is the first Central Asian country ever visited by the Singaporean President. So, your visit to Kazakhstan is a historic event. I am confident that your visit will herald a new chapter in our mutually reinforcing cooperation. Kazakhstan is strongly committed to further strengthening ties and interaction with Singapore,” the President said.

March 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Singapore. In this context, the President of Kazakhstan noted that over this period two countries have established a mutually trusted political dialogue and active parliamentary cooperation.

 

Trade, economic and investment cooperation plays a key role in Kazakh-Singaporean relations. President Tokayev underlined that today our country is home to over 140 Singaporean entities and joint ventures.

“As a result, overall Singaporean investments into the Kazakh economy have exceeded 1.4 billion dollars. Despite the economic and pandemic turmoil, last year our bilateral trade approached 2 billion dollars. I think it is a very good result,” President Tokayev said.

The President underscored that there have been established a robust institutional network for bilateral cooperation, driven by the Kazakh-Singapore Business Council.

“We will encourage our people to go to Singapore as tourists. And, of course, our gates will always be open for your tourists and businessmen from your country. So once again I would like to underscore that Kazakhstan is seriously committed to having close relations with your country,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

 

In turn, Halimah Yacob thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the invitation and warm hospitality extended to her and the Singaporean delegation. She commended the level of political dialogue and mutually beneficial partnership between Kazakhstan and Singapore.

“You are quite right. This is the first ever visit of a Singaporean President to Kazakhstan, and in fact, to whole Central Asian area. So it is a significant visit. As you know, Kazakhstan is a very valuable partner for us in the Central Asia region. Because we can see you basically as the regional leader, and that’s very important for us. We’ve kept very good relations over many years. We also have certain common beliefs and support an open rules and order, which is important for both Kazakhstan and for us as well,” the Singaporean President noted.

Along with this, parties discussed the importance of strategic partnership between the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Public Policy and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

 

The leaders of two countries exchanged opinions on expanding export capacity and opening joint ventures on the soil of our country. In particular, they talked about the status of implementation of a joint investment project on development of G4 City in Almaty region, and expansion of cooperation between financial institutions.

In addition, the presidents considered the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the framework of bridging the Trans-Caspian international transport corridor and BRI, as well as launching direct air connections between two countries.

During the conversation, a number of topical issues on the international agenda were also discussed, including Kazakhstan and Singapore’s interaction within international organizations.

 

At the end of the meeting, the Presidents have witnessed the signing of a number of documents, in particular:

1. Agreement on Trade in Services and Investment between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Singapore;

2. Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Singapore on Cooperation on Capacity Building Programme for Government Officials of the C5 countries;

3. Cooperation Agreement between Astana International Financial Center and Enterprise Singapore;

4. Memorandum of understanding between Joint-Stock Company «Сenter for Trade Policy Development «QazTrade» and Enterprise Singapore.

On March 2nd, 2023 in the framework of the participation of the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sharaf Sheralizoda at the 8th session of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Austria on Economic Cooperation, the delegation visited the headquarters of the Austrian energy company “VOITH Hydro”, which is active in Tajikistan in the construction of large hydropower projects, including “Rogun” HPP.

During the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the rich experience of the “VOITH Hydro”, which is a manufacturer of modern equipment and technologies in the fields of energy, transport, paper processing and raw materials.
