11 Aralık 2025’te Tacikistan ve İsviçre Daimi Temsilcilikleri, Birleşmiş Milletler Genel Merkezi’nde Su Dostları Grubu’nun olağan toplantısına ev sahipliği yaptı. Etkinlik, Daimi Temsilcileri ve su uzmanlarını bir araya getirerek 2025’teki suyla ilgili önemli gelişmeleri gözden geçirmeyi ve 2026 için ortak öncelikleri belirlemeyi amaçladı.

Tacikistan Daimi Temsilcisi Jonibek Hikmat, açıklamasında ülkenin su sorunlarına yönelik kolektif eyleme olan güçlü bağlılığını yineleyerek, hızlanan buzul erimesi, artan su kıtlığı ve genişleyen finansman açıkları karşısında aciliyetin altını çizdi.

2026’daki önemli etkinliklerin önemi de vurgulandı: Ocak ayındaki Dakar toplantısı; Mart ayında New York’ta kutlanacak Dünya Su Günü; ve Mayıs ayında yapılacak 4. Duşanbe Su Konferansı, 2026 BM Su Konferansı için hazırlık toplantısı niteliği taşıyacak. Ayrıca, Tacikistan’da yapılacak 2028 BM Su Konferansı’na da dikkat çekilerek, tüm bu etkinliklerin su konusunda küresel işbirliğini güçlendirmek için önemli fırsatlar sunduğu vurgulandı.

On 20 December 2023, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations Jonibek Hikmat met with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Head of Counter-Terrorism Office Mr. Vladimir Voronkov.

 

 

 

 

During the meeting the sides discussed issues of mutual interest in the field of countering terrorism and extremism, as well as enhancing of cooperation within the “Dushanbe Process on Countering Terrorism” and its financing and discussed the prospects of the joint international events in this area.

Toplantıda taraflar, terörizm ve aşırıcılıkla mücadele alanında karşılıklı çıkar konularının yanı sıra “Terörizmle Mücadelede Duşanbe Süreci” ve bunun finansmanı kapsamındaki işbirliğinin artırılması ve bu alanda ortak uluslararası etkinliklerin umutlarını tartıştı.

On December 15, 2023, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UN, Jonibek Hikmat, had a meeting with the Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed.

 

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, the parties discussed various issues pertaining to the cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations, with a particular focus on water and climate change as well as the situation in Afghanistan.

 

 

 

Regarding water and climate, parties emphasized the importance of following up of the outcomes of the UN-2023 Water Conference and expressed their readiness to continue and further enhance cooperation in this field.

Su ve iklim konusunda taraflar, BM-2023 Su Konferansı sonuçlarının takip edilmesinin önemini vurguladılar ve bu alanda işbirliğini sürdürmeye ve daha da geliştirmeye hazır olduklarını ifade ettiler.

On 21 June 2023, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Mr. Jonibek Hikmat participated and delivered the statement in the United Nations Security Council meeting on Afghanistan.

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, participants discussed the current situation in Afghanistan and elaborated on some of the immediate challenges the country faces now.

 

 

 

 

In his statement, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan expressed solidarity with the people of Afghanistan, who are in difficult security, socioeconomic and humanitarian situation, and expressed the readiness of the Government of Tajikistan to continue offering its infrastructure to international organizations to deliver humanitarian aid to the population of Afghanistan.

On May 17, 2023, a meeting of the member states of the Group of Friends on Water was held at the UN headquarters to discuss the outcome of the United Nations 2023 Water Conference (March 22-24, 2023).

 

 

 

 

At this event, UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN Jonibek Hikmat, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Yoka Brandt, Deputy Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua and President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi participated as panelists and expressed their opinions regarding the results of the Conference, including its main messages and further actions.

The Permanent Representative of the country during his speech, highlighted the success of the Conference, its importance and its significant contribution to global processes such as the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, the SDG Summit (September 2023), the 28th UN Climate Change Conference, Summit of the Future (2024).

On 10 February 2023, a signing ceremony of the Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Tonga took place in New York.

The Joint Communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries was signed by His Excellency Mr. Jonibek Hikmat, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations, and His Excellency Mr. Viliami Va’inga Tōnē, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Tonga to the United Nations.
