Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, met the members of the Azerbaijani community living in Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”.

Azerbaijanis residing in different cities of Kyrgyz Republic came together in Bishkek.

 

 

 

First, State Anthem of Azerbaijan was performed, then the dear memory of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the modern Azerbaijan, and our martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of our country, was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Event continued with the screening of the film dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Welcoming the participants of the meeting, the Chairman Fuad Muradov delivered a comprehensive report on the multifaceted activity and systematic projects implemented by the state committee. Recalling President Ilham Aliyev’s recommendations sounded at the 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis regarding the protection of Azerbaijanism ideology and national identity, the Committee Chairman highly appreciated the activity of our diaspora in Kyrgyz Republic. He invited our compatriots to be more active in promoting our language, culture, and emphasized the importance of involving young people in diaspora activity.

 

 

 

Chairman of Kyrgyzstan-Azerbaijan Friendship and Cooperation Society Akif Alaferdov, Chairman of “Irs” Public Union Khansivar Bakhshaliyev and others delivered speeches at the event. They have told that they are proud to be the diaspora of the victorious nation, and highly appreciated the close cooperation of the Committee and our diaspora in Kyrgyzstan.

 

 

 

The medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan “For Service in Diaspora Activity” awarded to Asad Hasanov, a diaspora activist in Kyrgyzstan, was posthumously presented to deceased’s nephew.

At the end of the community meeting, a wide range of ideas were exchanged and questions were answered.

 

 

 

Then, the Chairman of the Committee was a guest of the family of Azerbaijani Alasgar Safarov, who lives in Pervomaysk village of Sokuluk district of Chuy province, near Bishkek. The Committee chairman has been told that currently 26 Azerbaijani families live in this village. Their ancestors were exiled from different regions of Azerbaijan to Kyrgyzstan during the brutal repression of the 1930s. It was stated that Kyrgyzstan became the homeland of five generations of Azerbaijanis during 90 years. It has been mentioned that Kyrgyzstan was one of the first countries to adopt the law “On compensation to victims of repression”, and descendants of Azerbaijanis exposed to repression in 1933 and born before 1956, received compensation.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that our compatriots are attached to their national roots, they love their historical homeland very much, and they feel proud for Azerbaijan’s Victory in Karabakh.

Chairman of Kyrgyzstan-Azerbaijan Friendship and Cooperation Society Akif Alaferdov accompanied the Committee chairman.

 

 

 

It should be noted that Sokuluk district was established on February 5, 1935 as Kaganovichsk district, and it was renamed Sokuluk in July 6, 1957. According to, 2009 population census, the total number of the Azerbaijanis of Sokuluk district has made up 2299.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations in a number of areas of mutual interest.

 

 

 

 

The sides exchanged views on holding joint events, in particular regular meetings of the intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, as well as a ministerial meeting in the “Central Asia – India” format.

 

 

 

The agenda of the negotiations also included issues of interaction between the two countries within the UN and its specialized agencies, the SCO and other multilateral structures.

Mutual interest was expressed in implementing joint projects within the OSCE in the areas of “green economy” and “green energy”, mitigating the negative consequences of climate change.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues on the Uzbekistan-Lithuania agenda, with an emphasis on further strengthening political dialogue, boosting trade and economic cooperation, and expanding cultural and humanitarian ties.

 

 

 

 

The sides noted the need to take joint measures to deepen cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries and continue the practice of holding political consultations.

Tashkent hosted political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Poland.

 

 

 

During the event, the sides exchanged views on priority areas of Uzbekistan-Poland cooperation and aspects of the international agenda.

 

 

 

The parties discussed further development of political dialogue, in particular by expanding cooperation between foreign policy agencies and strengthening inter-parliamentary ties.

 

 

 

 

Special attention was paid to the active promotion of economic diplomacy. In this context, the parties confirmed their readiness to implement joint investment projects involving leading Polish companies, establish direct contacts between business circles, and develop interregional cooperation. Investment potential and promising project proposals in the chemical, and textile industries, as well as in agriculture were also presented.

 

 

 

The diplomats considered proposals for increasing cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, in particular establishing contacts between the scientific and educational institutions of the two countries.

 

 

 

Mutual interest was expressed in deepening interaction within international organizations.

 

 

 

The sides also discussed issues of developing cooperation in the field of tourism, improving the legal framework of bilateral relations, and expanding ties in the field of labor migration.

Sancar Turkish Cultural and Community Center hosted a meeting of the Azerbaijani community members

 

 

 

The Chappell Hill based Sancar Turkish Cultural and Community Center hosted a meeting of the Azerbaijani community members living in North Carolina and an art exhibition “Azerbaijan – My Land, My Soul” dedicated to our country.

Employees of the State Committee, officials of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the United States, representatives of the local communities and Turkish diaspora, as well as southern Azerbaijanis participated in the event organized by North Carolina based Azerbaijan Friendship Organization. State Committee rendered support to the event.

 

 

 

 

Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, highly appreciated the support of the Turkish cultural center named after the Nobel laureate Aziz Sanjar, a pride of the entire Turkic world. It has been mentioned that it is not the first case, that this center renders support to the Azerbaijani diaspora members. Thus, this center hosted several events including a solemn ceremony on the first anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory Day organized by our compatriots. “Beside contributing to the development of friendly relations between the United States and Türkiye, this center supports individuals who want to integrate into American society” told Fuad Muradov.

Committee Chairman presented the medals of the Republic of Azerbaijan “For services in Diaspora activity” to Aziz Sanjar, a great friend of Azerbaijan and a world-renowned scientist, and Gunel Krishnan, head of Azerbaijani Association of Minnesota.

Both Aziz Sanjar and Gunel Krishnan expressed their deep gratitude for fair evaluation of their activities. “Azerbaijan is my homeland”, mentioned Aziz Sanjar in his speech.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Adika Igbal, chairwoman of the Azerbaijan Friendship Organization, spoke about the projects implemented by the diaspora organization, and gave a brief information about the works of our southern compatriots – Azerbaijani artists Lala Baghirzade (Laleh Bagherzadi) and Bahram Yusifi (Bahram Yousifi).

“My goal is to introduce Azerbaijani culture to all communities living in the state of North Carolina. Here, I want to show rich culture and traditions of our people to those who are not familiar with Azerbaijan,” Lala Baghirzade told.

 

 

 

Azerbaijani artists were presented with a set of “Khari bulbul” and “Kalagayi” on behalf of the State Committee. The art pieces displayed in the exhibition aroused great interest among the participants of the event, including representatives of the local community. The exhibition continued with the performance of the “City Lights Jazz” music group.

It should be noted that Lala Baghirzade (Laleh Bagherzadi) of Azerbaijani origin is a graduate of Urmia University and North Carolina State University. She works as a plant physiologist at Raleigh region branch of the United States Department of Agriculture. Her dream of painting came true in the United States. In 2020, she won the first place at the “We Are All Chained” art exhibition held in New York City. Lala Baghirzade takes an active part in the events organized by the Azerbaijani diaspora operating in the United States.

 

 

 

 

 

Bahram Yusifi was born in Piranshahr, Iran. He received his bachelor’s degree in graphic arts and painting, and completed his master’s degree in oriental studies at the Art University in Tehran. He devoted 23 years of his life to the art of painting and taught painting in schools and various institutions. The expression of feelings and emotions are distinctive features of his works. He is the owner of more than 60 awards.
