Asfa Holding Chairman of the Board of Directors, Asaf Atasoy, included the following statements in his message;

We are all experiencing the justified pride of the 51st anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, which was carried out on July 20, 1974, by the heroic Turkish Armed Forces, who carried out very important activities as the defender of peace and stability in the world and in our region.

The Cyprus Peace Operation is the name of the rebirth and revival of a people who were sought to be erased from history, and the clear evidence that once again showed the whole world, after the War of Independence, what the Turks can afford when their fundamental rights are violated, their freedom is threatened, and their existence and survival are threatened.

With the Cyprus Peace Operation carried out by the heroic Turkish Armed Forces on July 20, 1974, the aid of our Cypriot compatriots was provided, the borders of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus were drawn, its existence was established on solid foundations and its rights and freedoms were re-established.

On this occasion, I remember with mercy and gratitude our cherished martyrs who unhesitatingly drank the sherbet of martyrdom in the Cyprus Peace Operation, which was carried out to ensure the freedom and independence of our compatriots and to bring peace back to Cyprus. I respectfully commemorate our veterans entrusted to us, and wholeheartedly congratulate the ‘July 20 Peace and Freedom Day’ of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Republic Day is a national holiday celebrated every year on 15 November in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in memory of the declaration of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Cumhurbaşkanı Ersin Tatar’ın görevdeki ilk iki yılını konu alan ve Cumhurbaşkanlığı Müzakere Heyeti Üyesi ve Dış Basın Sorumlusu Kerem Haser tarafından İngilizce olarak hazırlanan “The Vision for Two States in Cyprus” (Kıbrıs’ta İki Devlet Vizyonu) adlı kitap, Cumhurbaşkanlığı’nda düzenlenen etkinlikle tanıtıldı.

Cumhurbaşkanlığı himayesinde yapılan etkinliğe, Cumhurbaşkanı Ersin Tatar’ın eşi Sibel Tatar’ın yanı sıra; KKTC’de faaliyet gösteren yerel ve yabancı dernek ile sivil toplum örgütlerinin temsilci ve üyeleri, YÖDAK Başkanı Turgay Avcı, bazı öğretim üyeleri ile üniversite öğrencileri, eski Başbakan Hakkı Atun, eski müzakereci Osman Ertuğ ile davetliler katıldı.

Etkinlikte davetlilere hitaben bir konuşma yapan Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar, iki yılı aşkın bir süredir bu önemli kitap üzerinde çalıştıklarını dile getirerek kitabı kaleme alan Kerem Haser’e ve katkı koyanlara teşekkür etti.
Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar görevde bulunduğu sürede, yeni gelişmeler yaşandığını, yeni fikirler geliştirdiklerini belirterek; “Umarım ki görevimizi tamamladığımızda, Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti tanınacak ve daha fazla kabul görecektir” dedi.

Etkinliğe katılan İngiliz konuklara da teşekkürlerini ileten Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar, İngiltere ile Kıbrıs’ın ortak ve güçlü bağları olduğunu belirtti.
KKTC’de yaşayan birçok İngiliz vatandaşının bulunduğunu belirten Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar; “Daha iyi bir Kıbrıs için birlikte çalışmalıyız ve bunun için sizin desteğinize ihtiyacımız var” dedi.

Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar, bir süre önce Londra’ya yaptığı ziyarette temaslarda bulunduğu bazı İngiliz yetkililere de bu konuyu ilettiğini belirterek; “Londra’da görüşmem gereken herkesle görüşemedim, sadece bazı yetkililerle görüşebildim. Kraliçe’nin cenaze törenine ya da Kral’ın taç giyme törenine davet edilmedim. Bizim de orada olmamız gerektiğini Lordlar Kamarası’ndaki dostlarımıza söyledim. Çünkü Kıbrıslı Rumlar ne kadar egemense biz de o kadar egemeniz” ifadelerini kullandı.

Birleşik Krallık’a seslenen Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar; “İngiliz hükümetinden daha fazla şey bekliyoruz çünkü onlar Kıbrıs sorununun geçmişini herkesten daha iyi biliyor” dedi.
Kıbrıs’ta garantör ülkelerden bir olan İngiltere hükümetinin, Kıbrıs Türkü’nün egemen eşitliğini ve eşit uluslararası statüsünü kabul etmesi çağrısında bulunan Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar Kıbrıs’ta bir çözümün, egemen eşitliğe dayalı, iki devletli çözüm modeli ile mümkün olduğunu yineleyerek bunun, Doğu Akdeniz’de istikrarı sağlayacağını ifade etti.
Bu bağlamda uluslararası topluma, kendisinin yürütmekte olduğu “iki devlete dayalı” yeni çözüm vizyonunu destekleme çağrısını da yineleyen Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar, uluslararası topluluğun iki devletli çözüm vizyonuna desteğinin artmakta olduğunu gözlemlediklerini belirtti.

Konuşmasında, Kıbrıs Rum lideri Nikos Hristodulidis’e de mesaj gönderen Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar, Kıbrıs’ta çözümden yana olduklarını, adada yan yana yaşayan iki devletin iş birliğine dayalı bir çözüm istediklerini hatırlattı. Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar, Kıbrıs’ta iki devletle dayalı bir çözümün, adadaki refah seviyesini artıracağına olan inancını bir kez daha vurguladı.

Adadaki iki egemen devletin ekonomi, turizm, tarım, su kaynakları ve enerji gibi çeşitli alanlarda iş birliği yapabileceğini belirten Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar, Türkiye’den KKTC’ye gelen suyun ve Türkiye’den KKTC’ye kablo ile getirilmesi planlanan elektriğin paylaşılması gibi konularda adada iki taraf arasında iş birliği yapılabileceği görüşünü yineledi.

Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar, Türkiye ile KKTC arasında kablo çekilmesiyle adanın AB enterkonnekte sistemine bağlanabileceğini ifade etti.

Ekonominin gelişmesinin, elektrik sorununun giderilmesine bağlı olduğunu, her geçen gün elektrik talebinin artmakta olduğunu belirten Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar Kıbrıs Rum tarafına, Türkiye üzerinden çekilecek kablo ile AB enterkonnekte sistemine bağlanılması projesine destek vermesi çağrısında bulundu.

Rum lider Hristodulidis’e hitaben ise; “Kıbrıs’ta bir çözüm bulursak bütün Kıbrıslıların önünü açacağız” diyen Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar, ada etrafında birçok enerji projesinin olduğunu ancak bu projelerin Türkiye üzerinden Avrupa piyasasına ulaşmasında yaşanan birtakım sıkıntılar olduğunu, bu nedenle bunların giderilmesi için Kıbrıs’ta uluslararası bir çözüm olması gerektiğini vurguladı.

Kitabın yazarı, Cumhurbaşkanlığı Müzakere Heyeti Üyesi ve Dış Basın Sorumlusu Kerem Haser de konuşmasında, Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar’ın göreve seçilmesinden kısa bir süre sonra kendisini ofisine çağırarak iki devletli çözüm vizyonu açısından çok önemli bir döneme girileceğini ve her şeyi belge altına alarak bir kitap yazmaya başlamasını istediğini aktararak kendisinin de bundan büyük bir onur duyduğunu söyledi.

Haser, iki yıllık bir çalışmanın sonucu olan kitabın, Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar ile Cumhurbaşkanı Özel Temsilcisi M. Ergün Olgun ve müzakere heyetinin, proaktif politikasını konu aldığını ifade etti.
Kerem Haser kitapta, Cumhurbaşkanı Ersin Tatar’ın Cumhurbaşkanlığı’na seçildiği Ekim 2020’den 2022 sonlarına kadar görevdeki ilk iki yıl boyunca yürüttüğü çalışmalarının belgelendiğini ve kitabın üç bölümden oluştuğunu söyledi.

Haser, kitabın birinci bölümünün; Kıbrıs sorununun tarihçesi ve Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar’ın biyografisinden oluştuğunu; ikinci bölümde, Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar’ın iki devletli vizyonunu, uluslararası toplum nezdinde ilk kez orada ortaya koyduğu Nisan 2021 tarihinde Cenevre’de BM öncülüğünde yapılan 5+1 gayriresmi toplantıda yaptığı orijinal açıklamaları ve sunumlarının da yer aldığı temaslarına, toplantılarına ve açıklamalarına yer verildiğini anlattı. Haser, kitabın üçüncü bölümünün ise Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar’ın, medya ve haberlerde yer alan açıklamalarından oluştuğunu kaydetti.

Cumhurbaşkanı Özel Temsilcisi M. Ergün Olgun ise konuşmasında, Cumhurbaşkanı Ersin Tatar’ın Ekim 2020’de göreve gelmesinden bu yana Kıbrıs’ta iki devletli çözüm vizyonunu savunmakta olduğunu, bu vizyonun temelinde Kıbrıs Türk halkının egemen eşitliğinin, eşit uluslararası statüsünün kabul edilmesi olduğunu belirtti.
Olgun, Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar’ın iki devletli çözüm vizyonunu, Kıbrıs sorununun tarihinde ve Kıbrıs Türk halkının Kıbrıs’taki adalet mücadelesinde “yeni bir sayfa” olarak nitelendirdi.

Olgun, Kerem Haser tarafından kaleme alınan “The Vision for Two States in Cyprus” adlı kitabın bir referans kitabı olduğunu, Ekim 2020-Aralık 2022 tarihleri arasında, Cumhurbaşkanı Tatar’ın görev süresindeki gelişmeleri, iki devlete dayalı çözüm vizyonuna yönelik atılan adımları belgelediğini ifade etti. M. Ergün Olgun; “Bu kitap, Kıbrıs Türkü’nün kendi egemenliği için verdiği mücadelenin yazılı, canlı ve gerçek bir ifadesidir” dedi.

On 9 March 2023, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Muzaffar Huseinzoda received the copies of Credentials of newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus (with residence in Moscow) Mr. Cyprus Giorgallis.

During the meeting, the parties expressed interest in the development of bilateral relations and cooperation within the framework of international organizations.

No: 36, 30 January 2023, Press Release Regarding United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2674 (2023) on the Extension of the Mandate of the UN Peacekeeping Force in the Island of Cyprus

The United Nations Security Council has extended the mandate of the UN Peacekeeping Force in the Island of Cyprus (UNFICYP) for a period of one year with its resolution 2674 (2023) adopted on 30 January 2023.

We fully support the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) concerning the resolution.

Despite the fact that they are not included in the reports of the United Nations Secretary-General, we observe that the Council, detached from the realities on the ground and disregarding the will of the TRNC towards a two-state settlement, insists on settlement models that have been tried and have failed many times. This situation is incompatible with common sense and goodwill, and shows that, instead of promoting a real settlement on the Island, the Council is unable to free itself from Greek Cypriot influence.

Once again, the UN Security Council has ignored the inhumane and illegal embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people. It is yet another contradiction that the resolution calls for cooperation between the two sides, disregarding the realistic, constructive and sincere cooperation proposals conveyed by TRNC President Mr. Ersin Tatar to the UN Secretary-General in his letters dated July 1 and 8, 2022, which could meet many needs of the Island.

We reject the points in the resolution regarding Maraş and reiterate that we fully support all activities that have been and will be carried out by the TRNC authorities in the area in respect of the rights of legal property owners and the benefit of the two peoples on the Island. We invite the Council to stop supporting the insincere attitude of the Greek Cypriot Administration, which aims to prevent Greek Cypriots who wish to return to their properties from doing so. We take this opportunity to emphasize once again that Maraş is TRNC territory.

The consent of the TRNC was once again not sought during UNFICYP’s mandate extension. It has been repeatedly put on record that this is contrary to established UN practice and that UNFICYP has been able to continue its activities due to the goodwill of the TRNC authorities. It is essential that UNFICYP continues its activities on TRNC territory on a legal basis. It should be known that we will fully support the steps to be taken by the TRNC authorities to this end.

A common ground towards a just and lasting settlement in Cyprus must be based on the realities on the ground. In this regard, we call on the Security Council and the international community, based on the fact that there are two separate peoples and two separate states on the Island of Cyprus, to reaffirm the inherent rights of the Turkish Cypriots, namely their sovereign equality and equal international status, and to recognize the TRNC.

We commemorate the leader of the Turkish Cypriot people and Founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, late Rauf Raif Denktaş with respect and mercy on the eleventh anniversary of his passing away.

His efforts for Turkish Cypriots’ existence, sovereignty and independence will always be remembered with gratitude.

We will continue to give full support to the resolute struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people, co-owners of the Island, inspired by late Denktaş, for the reaffirmation of their inherent rights and recognition of the TRNC.

No: 355, 25 November 2022, Press Release Regarding Consular Consultations Between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye H.E. Yasin Ekrem Serim will pay a visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on 25-28 November 2022, to co-chair the consular consultations that will be held between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye and TRNC. During the consular consultations all aspects of bilateral consular relations and main issues concerning our citizens will be thoroughly discussed.

During his visit, Deputy Minister will also meet with TRNC authorities to address our bilateral relations as well as international developments regarding the Cyprus issue, in particular TRNC’s observer membership to the Organization of Turkic States.
